Finally an excuse for my lack of creativity!

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Alright so maybe there is no “excuse” for my lack of creativity and it really comes down to me not making time for it… but I tried.  I am being tested for Insulin Resistance which I am not really clear what exactly that is, but I do know what some of the syptoms are!  From what I understand, my body possibly doesn’t know what to do with the insulin it produces so it absorbs it instead in really neat places- like the extra fat cells in my butt.  Super huh?!! Anywho, some of the syptoms include jitters, sleepiness, lack of creativity, weight gain, etc.  Hmm, I’ve got all of those!  Jitters - coffee, sleepiness - staying up too late, lack of creativity - bleh. weight gain - not eating vegetables!  Ok, so maybe there is another reason for all of my syptoms… we’ll see.

In other breaking news- we had our meeting with the septic guy.  Turns out is will cost around $18,000 which we have already spent about $2,000 which brings us to a grand total of $20,000!  Yippee!  So yea, that’s that.  I am excited about two things: 1. we will be getting a pond (granted it wouldn’t have cost $18,000 for that, but that’s not the point!) 2. we will have boat load of fun sledding down the thing!  Weeee!  And there ya have it, there’s the bright side.

In OTHER breaking news- I am still unsettled on a new name for the website.  Abbi Normal was my initial choice.  I still like it, I still like the mockup I have for the site, I’m just not completely sold.  For one thing, the domain has a dash in it.  The domain wihtout a dash was taken- boo!  So, I have considered countless names and really can’t make a choice since I suck at decision making!  Ehh well, maybe tomorrow.  -meh-

Coffee you can eat - can anyone say YUM?!!

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Now, I came across this fabulous product months ago and new it was blog worthy but never wrote about it.  The product- Espesso.  A espresso magically made into some sort of frothy foamy delite, that you eat with a spoon - of course!  I am in love with Frappuccinos and the Frappe’s at our local coffee shop are made with espresso.  This is the closest I have come to eating coffee with a spoon!  Though, I do get shaky and feel as though I could possibly faint in the aftermath of a Frappe - I enjoy the moments before hand.  So here it is, the Espesso:

Now that looks FAB!  Too bad it’s not available in the US, guess that will save me from the shakes!  And who doesn’t love those oh so adorable espresso cups anyways.  See, it was totally blog worthy.

Blog 100 & a new septic system.

Monday, September 24th, 2007

This is my 100th blog.  Yippee.  I can only imagine all the pointless things I have had to say over the past year and a half. -Here’s some more:

A new septic system.  Finally.  It was over a year ago that we discovered the need for a new septic system at our house.  The situation is simple, we bought our house from some dishonest people who knew full well there was a septic problem but failed to mark it on the closing aggreement for the house.  In fact, they conveniently didn’t mark anything under “Septic System” which our lawyer informed us would pretty much give them an out.  If they were to claim they new nothing of this problem, I have forms from the Health Department with their signatures that state otherwise.  Me bitter?? Never.

So, what could be better than a new septic system??  How about a mound system!  What is a mound system you ask?  Well, take your average septic system, build it above the ground and tack on about 6 times the cost- and there you have it.  Yes, it will indeed cost us anywhere from $12,000-$20,000 to fix our little poo problem.  There is nothing in the world I would rather spend that kind of money on.  Really.  Ok, so my sarcasm may be a little over the top- but that’s how I deal.  I figure, if we don’t laugh at our problem- we’ll cry, and that’s not fun.

We have decided to make the best of our little issue.  Since we have to have a mound system, which is essentially a masive hill sticking out of your lawn, why not turn it into a privacy area and get ourselves a little pond dug behind it?!  How fun is that?!  We’ve always wanted a pond, so what better time.  No, the pond won’t be free but come on- after $12,000 what’s another $3,000??  Fo’Sho.  So yea, excited about the pond.  PLUS, there is no more poo in our basement- who wouldn’t be excited about that!  Yippee!

So here’s the facts.  Through all this ‘crap’(har har) over the past couple of years there have been definite moments of hopelessness, bitterness, pissed-off-ed-ness, etc.  Now however, I have a peace.  I know it’s all good.  No, we don’t have the money for this.  Yea, we wanted to move out of our house about now.  So what, things don’t happen in our timing.  I know God has our back, and that’s comforting beyond description.  There are times when I still want to call up the jerks we bought our house from and give them a what-for, but hey I think we knew better than to buy the house in the first place.  Like I say, it’s only money- really, what’s the big deal.

It’s so glamorous I can hardly contain myself!  Phase 1:

The Fountain… could have been better!

Monday, September 24th, 2007

So, we watched “The Fountain” yesterday.  This movie left me feeling pretty melancholy and sort of going- huh?  That’s it?  OK, so it starred Hugh Jackman (can anyone say grrr?) and Rachel Weisz both of whom I like.  Any Hugh Jackman movie is sure to be a hit in my book, but this one left me wanting something… more.  The movie was beautiful for certain, something I truly appreciate in film.  Yet somehow I guess I wished they had just made it like three hours long and really took their time on each part of the story.  I commented that it perhaps would have been a better book- which there is a graphic novel.  I suppose, had I read the book first I would have said- gee, that would make a great movie.  I appreciate movies like The Fountain, but in my version there would have been a much happier ending!

The toys have arrived.

Monday, September 17th, 2007

My toys from Kid Robot came on Friday & I was a little more than excited to rip into the boxes.  Since they were all blind box, it was like Christmas for me.  The packaging alone is half the excitement.  The boxes are uber cool then each toy is in a foil bag covered in Kid Robot logos.  So my husband & I took turns opening each of the three.  Are we dorks?  Perhaps.  Even he was excited once he saw the boxes.  The bad news is that I want to buy more now.  So what did I end up with?  See below.
Toys!
Can anyone say yippee!??  I was thrilled with what I received.  What will I do with them all now??  Well, more than likely they will gracefully collect dust on my desk at work or at home.  Either way, munny well spent.
How BAD do I want this??!!
